Many people think that you can't catch fish when heavy rains cause rivers to flood, but you can.
The rivers might be flowing fast and many areas become unfishable but the fish are still around, they are just in different spots.
Recently I fished the Yarra River near Eltham. The river was high and running fast. My usual spot was unfishable so I looked around for spots where fish might be able to get out of the turbulence and rest a bit. I found a likely looking spot and even though I had less than 2 hours I still managed to hook a fish.
If you look for slow water, use light gear, dip your bait in fish attractants and use berley you will have a good chance of landing a fish.
