Here are all my tips for reducing the risk of hook pulls and dropped takes by taking care of your hook points.

In my experience, the biggest cause of hook pulls is blunt or damaged hooks. When you’re fishing for carp with hard mouths, hook sharpness is even more critical. You need to have a very sharp hook to start with and then you need to keep it in top condition for as long as you can.
In this video, I show you how I inspect my hooks out of the packet to make sure they are sharp and how I lead around, cast and set up my rods while preserving my hook points. The last thing I want to do is damage my hook. If I damage it, I have to resharpen it or change it.
